You need coleslaw to go with many dishes during the summer and this recipe gives the perfect taste. The apple gives the coleslaw a sweet/tart flavor.
It goes well with fried chicken, fish and burgers and is perfect on top of my Southern Pulled Pork. It is so easy to make because it uses a bag of coleslaw mix that has all the cabbage and carrots all ready to use. Just mix the dressing and pour it over the cabbage mixture and chill. Nothing could be any easier.
- 1 - 16 oz bag coleslaw mix
- 1 Granny Smith Apple chopped, julienne strips
- 2 tbsp diced sweet onion
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/4 tsp salt
Combine the coleslaw mix, apple and onion in a large bowl. (Photo A)
Whisk together the mayonnaise, oil, vinegar, sugar and salt. (Photo B) Pour the mixture over the coleslaw mix and toss to coat. (Photo C)
Chill for at least 1 hour before serving.
