My family loves spaghetti and meatballs. If you have meatballs already made in your freezer, then you can make dinner quickly any weeknight. The meatballs can be added to your favorite marinara sauce for serving with pasta or placed on a hoagie bun for a great sandwich. Meatball soup is another great use. Don’t forget to add lots of parmesan cheese on top. I am sure you will enjoy these tasty morsels.
Ingredients (6-8 servings or 35 meatballs)
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 lb ground pork
- 1 small onion diced
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 cup fresh bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup dry Italian bread crumbs
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 2 tbsp chopped parsley
- 1 extra large egg, beaten
- 2/3 cup water
Sauté the onions in olive oil until translucent. This should take approximately 5-10 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for another minute. (Photo A) Set the mixture aside and let cool completely.
Add the ground beef and pork to a large mixing bowl. Combine the meats together. (Photo B) Add the onion/garlic mixture, bread crumbs, cheese, salt, pepper, parsley, egg, and water. (Photo C) Mix the ingredients together lightly.
Form into 1 1/2 in balls by using a scoop and then rolling them between your palms. (Photo D) Place the meatballs on a baking sheet and bake at 400 degrees for 30-35 minutes. (Photo E)
Add the meatballs to your favorite marinara sauce and simmer for at least 20 minutes. Add pasta to the mixture serve immediately with lots of parmesan cheese.
